I'm down to the wire with my holiday soaps, and of course I had to get a cold!  I managed to get quite a few done last week, many of which are remakes, so enjoy...

I thought I would post a picture of Vanilla Fig after it cured.  It is such a dramatic difference.  I am always amazed at how much a soap can transform after the cure time.  This is a perfect example of how a fragrance with vanilla can do this.

Whew!  I'm all done with my holiday soap.  Now on to lotions, scrubs, lip balm, and such! I will post some pictures after these cure up and get packaged.  I hope everyone has a productive holiday season! Only a couple more weeks until Halloween and then it's a rollercoaster until January, so hold on tight!

Fall Soap and Stuff

I have been badly neglecting this blog I know.  What can I say other than life has gotten in the way a bit.  I spent a busy Summer hanging with my kids, attending events, remodeling my home, and a little bit of soapmaking (although not a whole lot!).  I'm in full gear this week, and I have already made three batches of soap.  I plan to make more by the end of the week in preparation for the holiday season (yes, you heard me correctly, yikes!).  On yesterday's agenda was a remake of Birch Forest Goat Milk Soap, a remake of Spearmint Eucalyptus Shaving Soap, and Vanilla Fig Soap (a new one for the holidays).

Birch Forest got a bit of a make over, as did Spearmint Eucalyptus.  The Birch Forest bars are a bit bigger this time around.  This one is very popular with my customer base as well as my family members (men and women alike).  Spearmint Eucalyptus is also very popular, and although it is in a shaving puck, it can be used as everyday soap as well.

Vanilla Fig is a warm, sultry scent.  I must confess that I am in love with it.  This is freshly cut, and has a lot of vanilla in it, so it will darken significantly over the next few weeks.

I love taking them, and I am happy to say that I think they have gotten better over the years.  We recently bought a new camera, and I am pretty thrilled with it!  Here are a few soaps that I listed today and a couple that I will list soon.

Getting ready for Spring - freshly cut soap

Meyer Lemon
It's hard to believe that I am already making soap for the Spring!  I am waiting for a shipment of fragrances that I am going to be trying out, plus I have bunch of new colors I am going to be playing around with...SO exciting!  I cut this Meyer Lemon soap today.  I change it every time I make it, but I love the fragrance so much.  Below are pictures of soap I made a couple weeks ago.  I have since trimmed and cleaned them up, so they are much prettier now.  I am anxious for the sun to come out more often so I can get some proper pictures.  I took the last picture in my kitchen after I poured the black shaving soap.  That is the soap looking down into the PVC pipe I use as a mold. I thought it looked pretty cool.
